3D Gothic Object
My initial concept was based on the shape of a pyramid as they are linked to the Illuminati and thus to some is seen as scary. I decided to add curled tendrils to my piece to emulate the filigree designs on gothic mirrors and chandeliers. I felt across would be appropriate due to the theme being gothic and a key element of gothic culture is the Christian cross. finally, I decided to change my piece into a staff like a piece to reflect its power and that it has some kind of importance.
My final piece was finished with brown fading into a red/fire gradient to symbolise fire which I felt essential to the gothic vibe I was going for. as this was my first time working with straws I was rather happy with the outcome as it is sturdy enough to be held. my final critiques were based on the factor that no one could tell what it was however as an original creation I didn't expect anyone to be able to guess the inspiration. I added colour as advised and overall I am pleased with my outcome.
3D Wooden Decoration
These are my chosen inspirations for my wooden decoration. the sources of the artists are unknown due to the generic nature of the piece which is the pumpkin. I believe these pieces are used to invoke holiday cheer as they all use bright colours, the pumpkins use soft edges and soft gradients to give a bright friendly almost cartoon feel which couples with that of the lantern with its minimalist approach and limited colours.
