My night and day piece was a literal take on the meaning of “the opposite” as you can change the page round to see different mountains. Sunset and deep night; so close and yet so far, i used the technique of divisionism and painting as my medium, i worked from light to dark as i like to be able to push and pull my values. This was inspired by van gogh’s starry night

Who is she?

Featured in my personal work is my original character (OC) Puffett. I've been drawing her for many years and she was inspired by internet band Your Favorite Martian and Lace.mi on Instagram. I used complimentary colours to make her pop and often use her as a depiction of myself. To find out more about my characters click here.

Inktober 2017

"Every October, artists all over the world take on the Inktober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month." - Jake Parker
1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).
2) Post it online
3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2017
4) Repeat
Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. INKtober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better.

My personal goal with this exercise was to improve my use of liquid ink and techniques such as pointillism, division-ism, hatching and character design whilst also sticking to the time frame of once a day.
For me this was very much a challenge; having to wait for ink to dry and finding the time to do each drawing and make a new character was taxing but became easier as I found that if I picked a certain motif the design would come more naturally. The ink never became easier to work with but I did learn how long (roughly) to let the ink dry.
