Creating Research

As Primary research I decided to ask a community of international doll collectors on Facebook; I chose this group as they are extremely active and have a wide demographic of different people in the market for dolls. Above is the question I asked regarding what people value most when it comes to purchasing a doll.

The general consensus is facing is the key to people's connection with a doll and for this, I agree. My favourite dolls to collect are Novi Star dolls as the face sculpt is extremely beautiful. Secondly, the body type is looked at and how it can be posed as many people who buy dolls either play with them or pose them so having good articulation is key. For my dolls, I want to give them all faces that will appeal to a wide audience. Have them all be unique and have different aspects eg. darker make up or no make up.

Here are some polls I did on Instagram about some designs for my characters. I found polls useful as they allowed me to see what people responded to best design wise. You can see that I added elements of each design into my future characters.
